Aboard Dignity

Going Quietly "Green" on a Lagoon 420

Feedback from Guests ...

Here are some comments from Dignity's guests.  I'll be honest.  These are not all the comments and I'm only giving the good ones.  Boats and people's preferences are all different and sometimes they just don't match.  I'm under the assumption that if you're reading this, you have similar interests as us and that you like boats that can be lived on very comfortably and not designed to win races.  The quotes are as they came except for spelling corrections (I think some were made on top of one or two Painkillers) and the occasional abbreviation to eliminate the unnecessary.

"Dignity was wonderful, we had a fantastic week aboard. She sails very well (we hit 10.5 knots close-hauled returning from Anegada in 28 knots apparent with 1 reef in the main and full jib) and is quiet and diesel fume-free!"

"We just got back from our week aboard Dignity, and I must say, she’s a beauty!  You should be very proud to own such a fine yacht.  She was about the best looking cat in every anchorage we entered, and she drew more than her fair share of stares."

"Everything about the boat is delightful - there’s no reason anyone can’t go out on a charter and have a fantastic time with the boat as is.  The unique characteristics that this design brings quite enhance its usefulness in this manner, and she seems to be ideally suited for liveability.  The Lagoon design guys were playing their “A” game when the laid out the how to move around.  Our shins, knees, toes and foreheads thank you."

"Two big comments on the boat, incredible visibility, great movement throughout the interior and exterior; strong, stable hull and, the lines at the helm are no real issue."

"40kt wind gusts today, with driving rain.  We felt better on the boat than on shore."

-- Some questions have been raised about fuel usage and motoring performance so these comments are useful. --

"Boat cruises very nicely at 5.5 [knots] using 75 amps  ...  Like a cat - smooth, and virtually silent"

"We used 43 gallons of fuel, total through the entire 13 day charter period.  We moved the boat almost everyday, most upwind work was motoring, and, the last three days of which all upwind work was hard going into 20-25kt wind and associated wave - Quick estimate is approx 160 miles of travel, about half of which was motoring."

NOTE:  I understand the guest, like us, preferred not to use the A/C.
